Himesh Reshammiya gets intense as he advises budding singers to be #AtmaNirbhar in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs

MUMBAI : Zee TV’s popular singing reality show, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs has won the hearts of audiences yet again post lockdown as the supremely talented contestants delivered some phenomenal performances during the grand comeback episode on 18th July. This week, the viewers are in for a treat as popular Ramayan stars Arun Govli (Ram), Deepika Chikhalia (Sita) and Sunil Lehri (Laxman) & Punit Issar who played the role of Duryodhan in Mahabharata will be seen visiting the sets to encourage the contestants in a mythological special episode! However, there's more in store for the viewers. Judge Himesh Reshammiya is said to have made some impactful, thought-provoking statements on the show that got everyone to sit up and look at the current scenario in the music fraternity from a budding singer's perspective. He strongly urged every newcomer to leverage the power of digital, compose his own songs, sing and be #AtmaNirbhar.

During the episode, everyone enjoyed contestant Saksham Sonawane's performance where he sang a medley of Himesh's iconic songs Tera Tera Suroor and Jhalak Dikhla ja so much so that the popular music composer himself couldn't help but join the young boy on stage to laud his act. Overwhelmed by his talent and not wanting any of it to go waste, Himesh then went on to share some industry truths that he believes newcomers need to be cognizant of! Himesh said that talented singers should, at no cost, feel dependent on Bollywood for their big break. Instead, being part of the digital age, they should compose their own songs no matter how many times they fail, they should work towards getting their own blockbuster song out on social media platforms for a direct connect with the masses. With Bollywood doors swinging open to just a select handful of singers,  the digital medium provides a fabulous opportunity for them to come forth directly and connect with their audience.

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs judge Himesh Reshammiya mentioned during the show, "My songs have never been in the conventional zone, they have always been different and that is why I feel it's almost impossible for someone else to perform them, yet Saksham brought alive my songs wonderfully. However, I feel the understanding of the nuances of a composer's version is very rare.  For example, Arjit has the right kind of pick up sense, but not everyone has that. I feel today's singers should try and compose their own songs because only then will they know the soul of their own composition and that'll shine through and connect with listeners. Earlier, singers and composers used to get 8 to 10 hours to jam and rehearse with the musicians. They used to interact before starting any project, but nowadays, singers don't get that much time. It is a sad reality that composers today often just send a tune to the singers over WhatsApp and ask the singer to dub the song themselves. So, the process doesn't see the kind of coming together of talent, synergies and improvisations that used to be a part of the previous process"

Himesh further added, "Back in the day,  Alka ji and I dubbed 'Tere Naam' for 8 hours and that made the song such a hit. Amidst the new normal, I feel digital is the most direct medium between the singer and their audience and that's where they should reach out to them. Compose 100 songs, 500 songs you might fail 99 times but you will get that 1 hit song once you’ve hit the right chord. I really wish ki kisi singer ko Bollywood ka, kisi actor, director ya kisi producer ka mohtaj na hona pade ... I love Michael Jackson, he is a legend but he never sang for Tom Cruise, he has his own identity. This is what I want for all the singers, this is the time where we all need to hold hands and…
