“I always wanted to be part of a show like Megha Barsenge” says Neil Bhatt who essays the role of an IAS officer in COLORS’ new show

Megha Barsenge

MUMBAI: In a world where wedding vows echo with promises of eternal love, in India, reportedly more than 40,000 brides have seen their dreams shattered by husbands who promised love but delivered betrayal, by abandoning them. Rising from the ashes of these betrayals, COLORS endeavours to bring a storm of change by shedding light on ‘chhodi hui aurat’ (the issue of bride abandonment) with its new offering ‘Megha Barsenge’. Caught in the throes of a treachery, Megha, a newlywed bride, abandoned by her NRI dulha Manoj is challenged with weathering the deceit and restoring her family's reputation. Amidst her struggle, she finds an unexpected ally in Arjun, an IAS officer who aids her quest to confront the elusive groom. Starring Neha Rana as Megha, Neil Bhatt as Arjun, and Kinshuk Mahajan as Manoj and produced by Parin Multimedia, ‘Megha Barsenge’ airs every day at 7:00 pm only on COLORS.

Excerpts below:

1. Tell us something about Megha Barsenge.
A. Megha Barsenge sheds light on the often-overlooked issue of abandoned brides, particularly those left by NRI husbands who deceive them with false promises and take their money. The show questions whether these women should accept their fate or fight for their rights. Through Megha's character, we explore this struggle. My character, Arjun Talwar, enters Megha's life to help her realize her rights and fight for them, sparking her journey of self-discovery and empowerment.

2. What is your role in Megha Barsenge and what was the inspiration behind this show?
A. The inspiration behind the show lies in its powerful social message. I’ve always wanted to be part of a show like Megha Barsenge, and when my producer, narrated the story, his passion was palpable. I felt a strong connection to his vision and knew I wanted to be part of it. As for my character, I play Arjun Talwar, a young IAS officer from Delhi. He is very focused and determined in his work but also has a fun-loving side. He often puts his emotions aside to get the job done, leading to misunderstandings. However, he is quick to apologize when he realizes his mistakes. There are many layers to his character that will unfold as the story progresses.

3. How much research did you have to do for playing this character?
A. As we all know, becoming an IAS officer requires passing the UPSC exam, followed by an interview that determines whether you'll become an IAS or IPS officer. I’ve done extensive research to ensure my portrayal in the show is accurate and convincing.

4. As shooting for this show has already begun, and this is your first time working with Neha Rana and Kinshuk Mahajan, what is the environment like on set?
A. The environment on set is wonderful. Neha and Kinshuk are both lovely and very professional. The entire unit, including the senior actors, works with dedication and hard work. I feel fortunate to be part of such a great team and I’m very happy to be working with them.

5. Given that you played a similar role, do you believe your character Arjun will carve out a special place in the audience's hearts?
A. I believe Arjun's enduring qualities and relatable struggles will continue to carve out a special place in the audience's hearts. As we bring fresh storylines and deeper layers to his character, I am confident that the audience will find even more reasons to connect with and love Arjun.

6. What can your fans expect from Megha Barsenge?
A. I am very grateful for your support and love. ‘Megha Barsenge’ is a blend of meaningful storytelling and entertainment. I hope the viewers love us on our new endeavour.
