"I am a little nervous about doing a daily show"

In an industry where lead actors are changed overnight, five years might sound like eternity. Maybe just a few can survive the tide of time. Renuka Shahane is definitely one such actor. So, along with shedding oodles of fat and managing her babies, the bubbly actor is all set to face the small screen after a five year hiatus. Renuka will soon be seen as a lead protagonist in Sony's Jeetiya Hai Jis Ki Liye. Produced by DJs, the buzz goes that the serial is an adaptation of a Spanish format "It's an ideal comeback vehicle for me. I play Anjali, a young girl who slowly matures into a woman with a family and kids. Though, I can't reveal too much about the soap, all I can say it's an off beat story. Moving away from the typical soaps on air these days, the story will also explore shades of husband wife relationship," reveals an excited Renuka. This is the first time that Renuka will be trying out a daily. She says, "there was a time when I was doing five shows simultenously. But that was in the 90s when weeklies worked for channels. Now, I am not scared of facing the camera but am a little nervous about the gruelling work schedule that a daily demands." She further says, "twice before Sandiip Sikcand had offered me roles which I refused because my kids were too young then. But then I promised him that the third time you ask me, I will not refuse. Sandiip has promised me that its going to be a conducive and accommodating atmosphere on the sets for me." All in all, the lead role promises to be an ideal comeback vehicle for Renuka who rose to fame as an anchor for DD's cultural programme Surabhi. Later, she went on to do Sailaab, Kora Kagaaz amongst many other projects. Not too many people know but Reunka along with hubby Ashutosh Rana were also offered Nach Baliye 2; which they declined. "We didn't take it up because of my prior commitments. Ashutosh had already commited to two films down South. And we're not really dancers. So, though it would have been something very different for us to try out it didn't make sense for us to put in so much effort for it," says Renuka with her 100 watt smile. Renuka starts shooting for Jeetiya this November. So, till then its babies and hubby for this bubbly actress!
