After playing a range of characters, Jaya Bhattacharya aka Payal of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi has replaced vicious Ashwini Kalsekar (Jigyasa) of Kasamh Se.
Talk about the character and the actor says "though Payal was controlled, sophisticated, manipulative and calculative, Jigyasa is altogether a different character in terms of her sensibilities. She is more real than Payal and her behaviour is the outcome of the situations in her life. She is not complex and conniving as Payal's character."
"I think Ashwini did leave a great mark on Jigyasa's character"-Jaya

After playing a range of characters, Jaya Bhattacharya aka Payal of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi has replaced vicious Ashwini Kalsekar (Jigyasa) of Kasamh Se.
Talk about the character and the actor says "though Payal was controlled, sophisticated, manipulative and calculative, Jigyasa is altogether a different character in terms of her sensibilities. She is more real than Payal and her behaviour is the outcome of the situations in her life. She is not complex and conniving as Payal's character."

But then how far is justice meted out to a character that has been shaped up by a different person?
"I think Ashwini did leave a great mark on Jigyasa's character, the undertones of which will always echo in my act. But the beauty of the role lies in lending a new personality to the character. Giving it a new life, I am out to do so and make it my own," chirps Jaya.
Apart from her five year old character of Payal in Kyunki, Jaya is essaying three different characters at the moment.. Pooja who is pious, innocent and pure in Thodi Si Zameen Thoda Sa Aasmaan. Shyala an insecure character because of her husband's extra marital affair in Karam Apnaa Apnaa, and now Jigyasa who is out and out negative in Kasamh Se How does she manage three traits simultaneously and she adds "I won't say, it's easy to put on three different characters at the same time. When you are playing more than one characters its always that one of them happens to be the extension of your own self and playing it doesn't take much effort. Like Pooja in Thodi Si Zameen. I relate so much to this character and it makes my work easier"
Surrounded by versatility, Jaya must be a source of envy to quite a few in the industry. But then envy alone does not gift you roles!
