I faced marriage rejection on playing a bald role on-screen; says Tenali Rama actor Sohit Vijay Soni
MUMBAI: Actor Sohit Vijay Soni, who is playing the character of Mani in SAB TV’s epic drama Tenali Rama, spoke about the challenges that he meets on playing the bald role in the show and how he was rejected for marriage proposal on being bald.
He shared, “Lot of people asked me not to get bald but I took up this show as I found the character very interesting and unique from my past projects. Tenali Rama is a fantastic show and as an actor I have learnt a lot about my character. You won’t believe after some point of time I only started removing my hair in order to take precautions from not getting hurt. Lot of friends of mine used to tell me not to go bald as it may not look good and I won’t get projects in future. However, I was a believer of doing Tenali Rama because I loved the character of Mani. In fact I also did Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hai in my bald look. This look has worked in my favour.”
“On personal front, I have faced marriage rejection as I am bald. But it gets difficult to make people understand that it is just for a role and I am not bald in my actual life. An actor’s life is such and they have to prepare themselves for each character accordingly.

People who thought that I am bald can meet me now as in this lockdown I grew my hair as well sporting a beard. I am myself enjoying looking at myself in my old look and wishing to do some more projects where I can flaunt my hair and beard. However, at the same time I can’t wait to get back to Mani look.”
