Enchanting beauty Leena Jumani, who portrays the character of antagonist Tanu in Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya, is happy to have got the limelight in the show. Recently she tasted success on the big screen too in Ajay Devgan’s Himmatwala.
When asked about how her character of Tanu is being given the limelight, she said, “When the story was narrated to me, I felt it was a good concept and it is also like a parallel lead. I think Tanu is given enough screen space and I don’t think she has been sidelined from the show. It is just that currently the story is revolving around Pragya and Abhi’s divorce. I am very much happy with my character.”
Earlier you have played negative roles in shows, so how does that affect your personal life? Leena quipped, “I have played a negative role only in Kumkum Bhagya. My role in Punar Vivah was about a woman who wanted to work and be independent, but it was misunderstood by the audience and they thought that it was a negative character. My roles never affected my personal life.”
What about your on-screen and off-screen equation with your co-stars. “My off-screen equation with my co-stars is very good. We have become good friends and on our set there is a small garden; whenever we get time we all sit and have fun. There is nothing to be said about my on-screen equation, as it is known to everyone (laugh),” shared Leena.
TV is becoming bolder nowadays, how comfortable are you with on-screen intimacy? She said, “I will see what the demand of the situation is, and will agree for the same but if I think that the situation is going over the top I will definitely be uncomfortable.”
So what is the one thing you dislike about this industry? Leena averred, “I think that if the shows are working really well, the stars are popular; once the show goes off air the popularity goes down or vanishes. One thing I dislike about this industry is when sometimes the shows suddenly go off–air.”
With so many actresses getting married, we asked her when she will get settled in life. “I am in a relationship with USA based businessman Rahul and it is going good but right now I don’t have any plans to get married as I am focusing on my career.”
How do you feel when Kumkum Bhagya fans criticize you? “I feel good that people like my acting, but at the same time I feel bad that my fans are criticizing me,” shared Leena.
Any craziest fan moment? She quipped, “Once I went to Raipur for some event and there was a huge crowd surrounding me. When I got in to my car they hounded my car and I was stuck in the same place for at least an hour. They were banging my car’s window and that has to be the craziest fan outing.”
Leena, have a good future!!
