I hope our show encourages the public to join the efforts in changing the system - Keerti Nagpure

Keerti Nagpure
After playing Siddhi with aplomb in Colors’ Parichay, talented actress Keerti Nagpure is all set to essay a strong young politician in Sony Entertainment Television’s upcoming show Desh Ki Beti Nandini. Talking about the role in her new show, the actress stated, “I am very lucky to have got this opportunity. I am very sure that this Rashmi Sharma Production will rock, as it is offering differentiated content unlike the run of the mill saas bahu shows.” Keerti who is a trained interior decorator turned actress said, “The current situation of the country (insecurity of women) requires that the youth step up to the plate and do their bit. Sadly though, we are still not being able to overcome the generation gap. This shift is happening, but albeit at a slower pace. If it were to happen in full swing, India will really march ahead.” We then asked the Pune brought-up girl if she would hit the streets, if the civic services in her neighbourhood did not work, to which she replied, “One man can’t do it alone, but collectively we can get the work done. I have myself taken part in a few public protests or helped to get accident victims to hospital. Coming to bad condition of our roads, I think we will need to find some permanent solution to this perennial problem. Every monsoon the roads get washed away. I hope our show encourages the public to join the efforts in changing the system.” Sadly though, Keerti who talks about youth participation in the political process herself seems to be like millions of other younger Indians i.e. unaware about major political developments. However, she could not name any youth leader who she feels has the tool needed to change the face of India. She again took names of Indira Gandhi and Mahatma Gandhi. “Bapu used the phrase, if someone slaps you on your left cheek give him the other to face an issue. I know it is not applicable in today’s time. But we need to follow his underlying principle of non violent change.” Keerti, we wish you and your new show all the luck.
