“I interacted with and observed local housewives of Kanpur to prepare for Avani’s character”, says Rajashree Thakur from Zee TV’s Bas Itna Sa Khwaab

MUMBAI: Zee TV’s latest fiction show, Bas Itna Sa Khwaab is a heartwarming tale that brings to life the unspoken sacrifices of homemakers and their quiet strength in shaping their family’s future. Anchored around Avani Trivedi, played by Rajashree Thakur, a 42-year-old housewife from Kanpur, the show highlights her extraordinary journey of stepping beyond her role as a homemaker to actively contribute towards her family’s dream of owning a bigger home.

During the shoot in Kanpur, the lead actress Rajashree made it a point to connect with local housewives to understand their dialect and sense of style, including those who go to work to run their households. She believes that immersing herself in these observations helps her embody the character more authentically, making her body language and appearance more relatable to the audience. This attention to detail reflects her dedication to portraying the nuances of her character with sincerity and depth.

Rajashree Thakur said, “While filming in Kanpur, I made a conscious effort to observe the local housewives. I wanted to incorporate their appearance and style into Avani's character to ensure authenticity. It was fascinating to see how they engage in daily Shringar—their makeup, the way they wear sindoor, neckpieces, earrings, and more. During the shoot at an actual office location, I interacted with a lady officer and noticed that even at work, she was multi-tasking and ensuring that all was well back at home. The way we, as women, juggle both our personal and professional spaces and strike a delicate balance between the two has inspired my portrayal of Avani.”

Although Rajashree has made extra efforts to win the audience's hearts as Avani, in the upcoming episodes, it will be interesting to watch how Avani manages her husband Shikhar's (played by Yogendra Vikram Singh) dispute with her father-in-law over leaving the house.

To know more, watch Bas Itna Sa Khwaab every day at 7 pm, only on Zee TV
