I’m not a star yet: Rudra Soni

Rudra Soni about acting and more…

Sony TV’s popular show Peshwa Bajirao has proved to be a successful show for its brilliant story line, amazing direction, and mind blowing performance of the actors. Especially the child actor, Rudra Soni, who played young Bajirao, has won millions of hearts with his fine acting chops. The talented kid has become a household name with the soaring success of the show.

Rudra, who earlier did shows like ‘Bal Veer’, has also played the role of young Nana Saheb in Sanjay Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Bajirao Mastani’.

The Sphere Origin’s production recently took a leap, and the titular character of Bajirao is now played by ‘Siya Ke Ram’ fame Karan Suchak.

Tellychakkar.com got in touch with Rudra to know about his experience of working on the show and his future plans.

He said, “It was wonderful working with such great actors and director. I learnt a lot while working for the show. Our team was very good and supportive and I will definitely miss shooting for it.”

With a historical show and such a strong character of Bajirao, comes the challenge of learning many things like horse riding, sword riding, getting the accent and posture right and working for long hours in sunlight. So, what were the challenges that Rudra faced?

He shared, “Yes, playing the role of Bajirao was full of challenges. I learnt horse riding, sword fighting, and many more difficult things but I enjoyed all of this. I learnt horse riding in around six days. Once I had to fall from a horse, shooting for which was very difficult.”

On becoming a popular household name and star, he said, “No, I don’t think I’m a star yet. There’s a long way to go. But yes, it feels good to have made my parents and my family proud.”

Talking about his idols, he said, “I really get inspired seeing the work of Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. These two actors breathe their characters and do them with all their potential and that’s what I want to learn from them- to act with all my heart and soul.”

When quizzed which other character he would like to portray, he quipped, “I think given a chance I would like to play Ashoka’s character. I would also like to try anchoring. It will be interesting to experiment with that.”

Amidst all the debate about child actors being banned from acting, we asked his opinion on the issue and his witty reply left us impressed.

He said, “I think children should be allowed to work, that’s how we will explore our talents but yes that should be done with some limits. I agree that we can’t enjoy our childhood as other normal kids, so there should be restrictions. But banning is not an option.”

We wish him all the luck for his future endeavors!
