MUMBAI: Mouni Roy, who has beautifully stepped into the world of film from television, says that she owes her life to Ekta Kapoor.
Though the actress has a lot of film releases, it is television that brought her into the limelight.
After appearing in the film Run’s Nahi Hona Nahi Hona song, Mouni worked in TV shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev, and Naagin. In 2018, she made her Bollywood debut as a lead actress with Reema Kagti’s Gold. Next she will be seen in Robbie Grewal’s Romeo Akbar Walter, Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra and Mikhil Musale’s Made in China.
Even though she has lots of movies in her kitty, Mouni misses the small screen as she said to a leading publication, “I have a sense of belonging there, it’s like home because I know everybody.”
The actress gives credit to Ekta Kapoor for whatever she is today. “She has given me everything. I owe my life to her. Naagin is as much my baby as Ekta’s. Now I feel like I’ve moved cities and feel a little lost. But everyone has their own journey.”
When she was asked about returning to the small screen, she said, “Why not? Whenever I find the time.”
Mouni was also asked about her relationship status. To which, the 33-year-old actress said, “People who matter know I’m single and it’s not about shortage of time because you can compartmentalize your life. But I need to meet the right person. I can’t just pick someone and start dating.”
“At the moment I’m grateful for this window that has opened in my life. I don’t think I should throw it away by not giving my 100 percent to it,” she added.
