"I see no reason why actors would not want to look back to television once they enter Bollywood" - Rakesh Kukreti

Rakesh Kukreti
Talented actor Rakesh Kukreti who has been actively essaying roles of various genres, be it comedy, negative or grey shaded roles to positive ones and also featured in Bollywood films such as Chennai Express, believes that the character one essays is the most essential part of any project and that it can create wonders even if the script is weak. Says Rakesh, “Apart from the concept and storyline, it is important to have a powerful character as it not only puts to test the skills of an actor but also makes the show interesting. For example, I love my character in Ek Boond Ishq. With a great production house and concept, people have stuck to the show also because of the powerful roles each one of us has.” “If given a chance I would love to experiment playing a transgender Kalavati, which Vishwajeet Pradhan truly does justice to,” he adds. Talking about Bollywood films, where he has now been roped in for Singham 2, Rakesh is of the opinion that an artist who is talented will never determine the medium of acting due to the love he or she will have for the profession. Says he, “I have done a lot of advertisements and serials and have acted in Bollywood films too, but have never given a look test in my life. I was seen in Punar Vivah and they approached me based on my acting in the show. So till I get to essay varied characters, I do not care if I am featuring in an advertorial or a daily soap, episodic or Bollywood.” Speaking of the present trend, the man says, “Today we have episodic roles and seasonal shows where aspirants can put their acting abilities to test, experiment with new roles and work on themselves before taking a plunge in their career. The industry perspectives have widened. I see no reason why actors would not want to look back to television once they enter Bollywood as it is that medium which helped them build a graph in their career.” Well said, Rakesh.
