MUMBAI: Nazneen Patni, who rose to fame with Gandi Baat Season 2, has her hands full with meaty projects. She will be in Remo D’souza’s upcoming movie directed by Bharti Bachchani and is a part of an untitled movie starring Rajpal Yadav and Narendra Jha.
Nazneen received immense popularity with her stint in Gandi Baat wherein she played a girl with considerably small breasts who faced a lot of social stigma but eventually decided to live her life on her own terms and love her body.
But did you know she initially rejected the offer? Excited to know more? Read on.
In a candid chat with TellyChakkar, Nazneen said, 'Earlier, I rejected the offer as I felt Gandi Baat was too bold, but a friend suggested that I at least listen to the story of the project. I agreed to hear the story and had an instinct that I should do the show.'
Ask her what made her change her mind, and she said, 'I did a lot of social service in the past along while working in the media as a reporter. I always had a calling to spread awareness and do work that might bring a change in society. Minus the bold scenes, the episode had a social message too that needed to be told, and thus, I agreed to do the show.'
Sharing her experience on shooting a bold scene, she said, 'Shooting the scene with director Sachin Mohite was an amazing experience. He makes all the actors super comfortable, and one doesn’t even feel like he/she is doing a bold scene. In fact, the entire team of Jasvand Production is extremely helpful and supportive.'
We asked the gorgeous actress if she would take up television shows, to which she replied, 'I used to do many auditions, but I realized with time that TV is only made for skinny and fair females. Even if you are a brilliant performer, they will only consider a fairer girl. I was rejected many times for my dusky complexion. It is high time we give more importance to talent and performances rather than appearances. Eventually, I stopped auditioning for TV and started looking out for opportunities in movies, and to my surprise, casting for movie projects doesn’t depend on the skin color at all.'
Here’s wishing Nazneen best of luck for her future projects.
Stay tuned to this space for more updates.
