Pallavi Purohit of Madhubala (Padmani) fame is quite happy with the public reaction of her debut lead character in the Malayalam film Silence.
This suspense thriller with legend Mammooty as her co-star is still running to packed houses both in Kerala and the Gulf.
“We had a week run of the film in Mumbai as well. It is getting a lot of class appreciation,” she reveals.
Point out that there is a big age difference between Mammooty and her, to which she replies, “Yes, but down South, the public loves their superstars. Mammooty and Mohanlal are icons in Kerala as Rajnikanth is in Tamil Nadu.”
“Also Mammooty sir has really maintained himself. He does not look his age (62), he looks around 40. I told him I don’t need to look older my age; we look like a proper husband -wife on screen.” In the film Mammooty plays a judge while Pallavi plays his wife; they have two children.
Besides Silence Pallavi also has Subhash Ghai’s Kanchi with Mithun Chakraborty in the pipeline.
So can we see you back in Madhubala? “I can’t answer this for sure. Currently the track centers on RK (Vivian Dsena) and Madhu (Drashti Dhami). Plus I also should have bulk dates. At the moment I am considering other South flick offers as well. I have great regards for my producer (Saurabh Tewari) for he let me go when I informed him that I had been offered Silence. If it was the case with other producers, they might have held me to my contract,” she answers.
“Having said that I will never give up TV, for I got Silence thanks to my 7 year-old TV stint (Karam Apnaa Apnaa, Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat and Bairi Piya etc). I am open to good work; the medium is secondary,” Pallavi ends.
