Actor Kunal Banerjee, who acted in Aakash Aath's Pandemonium and currently seen in Colors Bangla’s Naagleela, says that it was his knack for mimicry that inspired him to try his hand in acting.

“I was known for mimicry and my friends would talk about it quite often among themselves. Then I thought what if I was able to do it in front of the camera. My friends also encouraged me to try my luck and then one fine day acting happened,” Kunal said to Tellychakkar.com when asked to share his acting journey.

Before stepping into the world of entertainment, the actor was a Hotel Management student, who worked in places like Bangalore and Gujarat. Then one day he resigned and landed in Kolkata to work as a Relationship Manager. However, his mind and soul were always looking for some creative field.

So, finally how he managed to step into the acting world?

He said, “I quit my job and made a portfolio. And guess what? Before that I didn’t even know what a portfolio was. The organisation which helped me with the portfolio also provided me some addresses. I used to hover around the studios for the entire day and would retire to my bed in the PG (hostel) at night. Soon my money finished so I joined a BPO but I couldn’t continue it.”

“And then one day, I came across casting director Raja Banerjee. Under his patronage, I started working as a junior artist in various serials. I got my first break as a character artist in the daily @Bhalobasha.com and then there was no looking back,” he added with a smile.

When asked if he is satisfied with his work, he said, “I am satisfied with my work but I wish to play a detective character someday and especially to play a character like Byomkesh is a dream. Shah Rukh Khan’s roles in Don and Devdas are also my dream roles.”

Best wishes for your future endevours, Kunal!
