The recently launched show on Colors, 24 (Anil Kapoor Productions) which started with a bang has brought in a number of fresh faces into the industry. And the guy who sizzled in the first scene was the assassin Maxx, who impressed us with his good looks and impeccable acting talent.
The man in question is Rajat Kaul, born in a conservative Kashmiri family who dared to dream big and make a mark in the world of entertainment.
Talking about his journey the handsome actor says, “I was working with the sales team in The Oberoi when I got into theatres and then my life changed for the better. Belonging to a family of doctors and engineers, I was a normal guy. Then as I grew up I wanted to do something adventurous and I feel theatre gave me that chance.”
He goes on, “I joined Barry John’s workshop to polish my acting skills and did small roles in films like Ragini MMS, Soundtrack and KLPD. And then through a friend I got a chance to meet VJ Yudi who suggested me to audition for the series 24. I didn’t even know that something like this was coming in India, and had to Google and find out more. After that I auditioned for the role and thankfully bagged the role of Maxx.”
The actor who had also worked with Rensil D’Souza (writer of 24) for his upcoming film Ungli feels lucky to be working with Rensil again and Abhinay Deo, who is directing the series.
Talking about the man who made 24 possible - Anil Kapoor, he exclaims, “I have only one scene with him, but then he made all efforts to make us all comfortable on the sets. He is a very warm person and was always on his toes doing something or the other. Similarly I too hate being in the vanity vans so we did enjoy his company.”
Sharing a funny incident he tells us, “Once I was eating some peanuts on the sets, when Anil called me, “Aye idhar aa, mere ko de ye chana (come here and give me these peanuts). I must say he is a very charming man, and I do not really know how a producer should behave but he was really open to all my queries and we shared a comfortable vibe.”
On his short stint experience which thankfully got noticed in a huge way, he shares with us, “I do not believe in something right or wrong, it’s just how you churn out your opportunities. I was really excited to be a part of this game changer project and thankfully it has come out well.”
Talking about the kind of roles he would want to do Rajat avers, “I am playing a young brashy guy in Ungli and being an emotional guy I would like to do a character like that which is something deep. Since I can’t really relate to the usual saas-bahu shows, I would like to do some realistic and interesting stuff in episodic or series based like 24; something that gives you a kick.”
And what about romantic roles? Laughing out loudly this young man says, “Why not? We have all grown up seeing actors romancing around trees, and I too would like doing something like that someday.”
On being asked whether he looks up to any actor, he very sweetly states that for him every actor is unique in their own way. So what’s unique in Rajat, we quiz him. “You really want an answer to that? (Laughs) Rajat is just a normal person who would rather let his action speak than brag about himself.”
Well said, Rajat!!!
