MUMBAI: For Delnaaz Irani, Republic Day has always been more than a national festival—it is a day deeply tied to family pride and patriotism. Her mother, a major in the National Cadet Corps (NCC), played a significant role in shaping her understanding of the day’s importance.
Recalling her earliest memories, Delnaaz shared, “My mother had the privilege of being part of the grand Republic Day Parade at Rajpath in Delhi. Seeing her in uniform, representing the nation on such a prestigious platform, was always a proud moment for us. It wasn’t just about her; it felt like the entire family was part of something bigger.”
Every year, Delnaaz’s mother would travel to Delhi to participate in the parade, and the family would eagerly await the celebrations. “Watching her dedication taught me the true meaning of patriotism and discipline. The parade wasn’t just a spectacle; it was a reminder of our country’s unity, diversity, and rich culture,” Delnaaz added.
Delnaaz believes Republic Day holds even greater significance today. “It’s not just about looking back at our achievements; it’s about ensuring we uphold the values of justice, equality, liberty, and fraternity in our everyday lives. The essence of Republic Day is a reminder of who we are as a nation and what we aspire to be,” she said.
She concludes with a heartfelt message: “Republic Day isn’t just a celebration; it’s a call to action. It’s about embracing our responsibilities as citizens and doing our bit to build a stronger, united India.”
