Marriage doesn't stop actresses from getting lead roles: Shubhangi

Actress Shubhangi Atre, who is currently seen in TV show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!, says she does not find marriage as a barrier in an actor's career.

"Many times I read in interviews where actresses claim that they are not getting lead roles in shows because they are married and have a child. But I personally don't believe in this," Shubhangi said in a statement.

I feel if we have talent, well-maintained personality and a physique for a lead role, we can easily get them," she added.

Shubhangi, who has earlier worked in shows like Kasautii Zindagii Kay and Kasturi, is a mother of a 12-year-old daughter.

"I'm playing a lead role. I was not even approached for a mother's role. I feel blessed," added the 37-year-old.

Anything populist will be criticized: Ekta Kapoor

Producer Ekta Kapoor, who is gearing up for the release of her forthcoming web series Apaharan, has answered all her critics by saying that anything populist has always been criticised all over the world.

Ekta, along with the ALTBalaji web series' actors Arunoday Singh, Nidhi Singh and Mahie Gill, interacted with the media here on Wednesday.

The producer has always been criticised as she shows superstition and sexual explicit content through her shows.

Asked to comment on criticism that she faces, Ekta said, "I am very happy showing sex. There is no problem with sex when you show it on-screen. We should not have a problem with sex. I feel the problem with our country is that we have two set of teeth -- one is to show off and the other to chew with. We should have problem with non-consensual sex and sexual crime.

"As far as superstition is concerned, Naagin is a fantasy show. I loved Harry Potter and Game of Thrones. We don't match up in effect because our budgets are 1/100 of that and the day we get those kind of budgets, we will match up to that also. We make up more in our storylines, and that is why Naagin is such a big hit.

"As far as the world over, I am talking about post-colonial era, anything populist will be criticised. You cannot take a step with a fear of criticism."

On her experience of working in Apaharan, Mahie said, "I always wanted to work in a web series. I really like its subject and the director of this web series is really nice. I always wanted to be associated with Balaji Telefilms (production house) but I never got that opportunity.

"Ten years back, when I was struggling to get work as an actress, I went outside Balaji's office to meet Ekta Kapoor but the security person over there sent me back and now after 10 years, I have got an opportunity to work with them. So, it's a really nice feeling working with them."

Arunoday said the character he essays in the show is very different from his personality.

Apaharan is directed by Siddharth Sengupta and has dialogues by Varun Badola.

Randhir Kapoor reveals about ‘Mera Naam Joker’ on Indian Idol 10

Top 6 contestants of Indian Idol 10 are all set to take you on a melodious journey with the R K Special episode this weekend. Veteran actor Randhir Kapoor graced the stage and was extremely overwhelmed with the performances of contestants.

When host Maniesh Paul asked what the favourite movie of Raj Kapoor was, Randhir Kapoor revealed that it was Mera Naam Joker, and also shared on Indian Idol 10 how the superhit movie Bobby helped him and his family to recover from the debt.

Randhir Kapoor said, “Bollywood film Mera Naam Joker was my father Raj Kapoor’s favourite movie. But the movie couldn’t do well and was not successful. It actually took five-six years to complete the movie and as a result my mother had to sell her jewellery, we were actually under debt and Bobby was a big risk. But when Bobby released, it was a superhit film and our life came on track after that. The film actually changed my family’s life and was a saviour for us.”

Sehban Azim is ready to embrace parenthood?

Babies are a little bundle of joy and they light up the atmosphere with their chuckles and innocence! The cast of Zee TV’s show Tujhse Hai Raabta cannot stop gushing over the new baby on board and are developing a strong bond with him! Fondly known as Pihu in the show (played by baby Arzaan Sheikh), the kid is Malhar Rane’s son and is set to bring a lot of twists and turns as the story progresses.

While Sehban and baby Arzaan share a cute chemistry on-screen, Sehban reveals that he is completely in awe of the baby. This is the first time that Sehban is playing a father on television and he is thoroughly enjoying his company. In fact, the actor feels that he can be a perfect single father!

He said, “It is a beautiful experience to hold a baby in your arms, especially when he looks at you and gives a smile. I am quite confident that I am more father-ready than husband-ready. I can do all household chores like cooking, washing dishes and cleaning fairly well and I can also take care of a kid. I have raised my brothers and my mother taught me well to do all of it.”

Speaking about his off-screen bond with Arzaan, he said, “Reem and I scheme to have our ‘me times’ with the baby on the sets. We also have this little inside joke wherein we say that Reem herself is a kid but quite efficiently handles a kid.”

Well, now we know the softer side of the otherwise tough cop Malhar and we are glad!

Rishina Kandhari’s Kaali Maa look is a big hit

Actor Rishina Kandhari has always won people’s hearts with her portrayal of characters on screen. The actor, who will be playing the role of Kaali Maa in the show Tenali Rama, says that her look has made her feel connected with the goddess. “It's totally a different divine feeling getting into the look of Kali Ma. When I dress up as Kali Ma, I feel a connection to the goddess. I feel great in getting in her look,” she says.

However, getting into her look is no easy feat. “It takes me almost one-and-a-half hours to get into the look. My entire body is painted dark blue and then I get into the costume and my hair is done,” she says.

Ask her what is the best compliment that she has got for her look, and she says, “Rishina Kandhari, the most beautiful Kaali Maa ever in the history of mankind’, is the compliment that I got for the look. I was very glad when I got that comment. People are liking my role, what more do I want?”

Gauahar Khan dances with her twin on “The Dance Project”

The gorgeous Gauahar Khan will be seen in this week's The Dance Project episode and that too performing with her twin! India’s first digital dance property which is winning all hearts on YouTube is now ready to surprise the audience with something new. This weeks’ episode on Friday, December 7th features the stunning Gauahar Khan with her twin, along with Sushant Khatri and Team Naach.

Says Gauahar, “I had the best experience as there were two of me on stage and I think we killed it. I have done Kathak and Hip Hop styles both on the same song for the first time, I hope my fans and dancers enjoy watching me.”

The show gives a common platform to the best of dancers from three worlds i.e. Bollywood, TV and YouTube to try new dance forms and collaborate.

A simple format of 12 episodes release weekly, one every Friday, features four performances: one by a Bollywood dance celeb, one by a TV dance star, one by an YouTube dance icon and one collaboration between TV and YouTube stars.
