Piyali Munshi made her debut in the Hindi Television industry with Colors’ Jai Jag Janani Maa Durga (Sagar Arts). However this mythological saga is all set for an early end! As reported earlier, the series is all set to go off-air on 5 April 2013. This news came as a big shocker for Piyali who was shooting for the same in Baroda since October 2012 as she tells us, “I was attached to the show as I had put in a lot of effort in it.” What does the actress mean by ‘a lot’? “All this while I had been staying in Baroda hence; I could not even meet my family. Apart from that, I gave up on non-vegetarian food in spite of being a strict non-vegetarian. So, it was difficult to believe that the show was going off-air so early but you can’t do much against the channel’s decision.” Why did the actress give up on the cuisine she liked the most? “I am a Bengali and for us, Maa Durga means a lot. So, when I was playing her on-screen, I wanted to get into the skin of the character. Hence, I stopped having non-veg.” Though the show will see its last telecast on 5 April, the actress has already completed shooting her part. Therefore, when we asked about her last day on the sets, she averred, “It was a very emotional day but at the same time there was a lot happening. My last sequence was an action packed drama plus I had to pack my things the same day to leave for Mumbai. Hence, I did not get enough time to think.” Piyali has worked in Bengali serials, hence when asked if she plans to get back there, she said, “I am planning to stay back in Mumbai for a while. I might also take up another Hindi show.” What sort of a show would the actress like to be associated with next? “I am lucky to have started with a mythological show and now I would like to move on to a social drama,” she informed. We wish you luck Piyali!!!
