Javed Ali gets emotional as mother surprises him on the sets of Indian Pro Music League!

MUMBAI: Zee TV has been a pioneer and a trend-setter in shaping television content over the past three decades and once again, it seems to be changing the face of music reality shows with its latest non-fiction property, the Indian Pro Music League (IPML). In a clutter-breaking format innovation, Zee TV launched the world’s first-ever music league championship on February 26th, 2021. While the world of sports has seen several league competitions, this unique music league has six teams representing different regions of India, battling it out against each other in a musical championship. Each of these six teams supported by leading Bollywood and sports celebrities has top playback singers as their captains, one reality show star, and one fresh voice. Celebrated singers - Mika Singh, Kailash Kher, Sajid Khan, Shaan, Ankit Tiwari, Javed Ali, Asees Kaur, Bhoomi Trivedi, Akriti Kakar, Payal Dev, Neha Bhasin, Shilpa Rao are captains of these six zonal teams.

In the upcoming episode, viewers will be treated with a melodious performance by Gujarat Rocker’s captain Javed Ali to the song ‘Aaj Mausam Bada beimaan hai’. Not just that, viewers will get to witness an overwhelming and inspiring account of Javed Ali where he revealed his struggles and journey to becoming a playback singer.

Recalling old times, Javed Ali shared, “Back in the day, I used to live in Chimat pada Marol Andheri east, where the rent was Rs. 1500 and deposit was Rs. 20,000 and collecting that was the most difficult part. There was just 1 tube light and a fan and I learnt how to make Daal. We would add extra water so that it would an extra day. We used to plead to the landlord to let us stay in the house.”

He further added, “I don't like sharing my story because I don't want sympathy, this is the first time I am getting the chance to share my story. I started from scratch; and my father used to say ‘in life you will get success only if you make yourself capable and associate with knowledgeable people. Never think you have learnt enough.’ I learn from everyone who is present here and I use the learnings in my songs. I have come from Delhi, there we used to live under Tirpal. In rainy season we used to pray that our Tirpal should not fly away because of the storm. Allah has blessed me with everything. When I came to Bombay, I used to pray that I could get 2000 Rs. from an event so that half of it I could send at home in Delhi to my family.”

After an emotional moment, there was a sweet surprise for Javed Ali as his mother came on stage. She shared, “All I ever wished for him was for him to get his success and always remain down to earth. With a heavy heart we sent him to Mumbai. I had cataract and I couldn’t see properly at that time. After he earned enough money, the first thing he did was got my eyes operated and every day I feel blessed to have a son like him. Even after his father expired, he took care of his family. He can't see anyone in trouble and I can proudly say that success has not changed him.”

Javed further added, “People tell me to be cool and give attitude to people, but I feel if I do that, something will go missing from my life. And I believe it is important to be always down to earth. I didn't want to become a playback singer initially, but slowly my passion for singing increased and I started singing jingles, gazals, alaap and giving voice overs for people. That’s when people started getting to know me and here I am today.”

Well, that is indeed overwhelming!

With Roohi’s cast Janhvi Kapoor, Rajkumar Rao and Varun Sharma in the house viewers will be in for lots of fun and music. The disco medley will take over the stage with the performance by Akriti Kakkar and Shaan. Not just that, Mika will add his Punjabi tadka on stage with his performance to the song ' Singh is king’.

To see how everything went down, tune into the Indian Pro Music League, every Saturday and Sunday at 8 pm, only on Zee TV
