They returned with a bang! The maiden episode of season 2 of Star One's Nach Baliye did manage to grab eyeballs of the telly junta and was highly discussed - be it for the melodrama caused by Shweta Tiwari, or the poor scores earned by senior jodi Ketki-Raski or Malaika's teensy but sexy ensemble!
And now in the second episode the pressure was to ameliorate or at least live up the hype generated by the previous telecast. We decided to be right there on the sets and check out the real hungama!

Here's a sneek peek as well as a low-down of episode two of NB 2 which will be telecast on Monday. The theme being 'village' to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
We were bedazed to see the set which was beautifully adorned with khats and golden matkas, thus keeping up with the theme. Also the choreographers were assembled in traditional outfits as the telecast will co-occur with Dussehra.
After roping in the title holders, Sachin-Supriya last week, the channel opted for a reverse countdown and brought in Rohit-Mansi (the first jodi to be eliminated last year) to anchor the show. They couple performed on gori hain kalaiyan and definitely has better sense of rhythm this time around!
Malaika looked ravishing as usual in an embellished orangish -ivory tunic (again sans the pants, thankfully!). Kunal Kohli made an intentional effort to add more words to his vocab after receiving flak for repeating 'energy' and 'chemistry' umpteen times. And Saroj Khan chose to be stricter with the contestants as she evaluated each performance microscopically when it came to technique.
And finally we come to the star performers! Here's the list of songs they danced on
Ladies day out!
Yash and Gauri Tonk were dressed too simple, especially the lady who seemed to have picked up the ghaghra choli from a local market! But she covered up with her aadayein and once again overshadowed her hubby. The same happened in case of Hussain - Tina where the latter took over the laurels from all the judges. Gurdeep too grabbed many a compliments for being a consistent batsman, leaving her requesting the judges to shell out some good words for her husband too! And yes, this jodi took over the title of the 'cutest couple' from Sharad-Keerti!
Disappointment galore!
But it was a hellish day for Saroj Khan's baby doll Keerti and Sharad (they scored 14 points, the lowest for the day). The jodi tried to divert from their cute image, and opted for raunchy moves on ishq kamina. But their steps were a direct lift from the original song! In fact Saroj Khan took the choreographers task and blasted him by commenting, "mujhe Farah Khan wala dance nahin tumhara imagination chaiye".
Last times highest score holders, Bhaktiar-Tanaz couldn't live up to the expectations of the judges and earned 27 points, reason being Bhaktiyar's hyper enthusiasm which worked for him last time but it backfired this time! In fact Malaika adviced him to pop a chill pill!!! And once again there was a tie between Raja - Shweta (she looked tacky in a netted zardosi ghaghra choli). Though Raja did manage to come out of his wife's shadow and shook a leg or two. Was it because his papa was whistling for him in the audience?
Surprise, surprise!
After being rebuked last time for her manly moves, Shweta Kawatra stepped on the battle field with cramped nerves but emerged a winner! She impressed one in all with her graceful and coy movements. In fact, Malaika stated that she finally danced like a lady. But the icing on the cake was Saroj ji's compliment, "you remind me of Vyanjantimala!" And Manav didn't go unnoticed too, thanks to his mouche ala Shahrukh in Paheli. The poor scorers of last time, Hiten-Gauri pleased the judges with their latkas and jhatkas, especially Hiten who did a dhinchak 'churiya' step!
But it was last times lowest scorers, Ketki - Rasik who received a standing ovation from the critical trio! Dressed like Kashmiris, they performed on meri jaan valle valle, hence putting them to ease as the song belonged to their era.
The only ceetee winners!
Jodi no 1 proved true to their allotted number! Dressed in shocking yellow, the duo gyrated on a Govinda number prem jaal main. And must say, Gaurav did full justice to the song with his comic timing and pelvic thrusts! Saroj Khan was so moved by his act that she even gave her most treasured aashirward to the hunk.
And so who was in and who was out????? We'll conceal the suspense as too much of anything is harmful, as someone had once quoted!
