In a conversation with India Today, Karishma Tanna highlighted how her professional growth has been after the success of the series because earlier she used to get 'typecast' due to her looks, "Back in the day, I was always typecast, especially because of the way I looked. I was always offered glamorous roles. Sometimes, this happens because we are women. I was told that because I was tall and looked good, I was often cast for a particular type of role. It only happened much later when a few actresses came and changed the entire narrative positively."

She spoke about her journey, "For me, even when the narrative around actresses doing meaty roles changed, I struggled a lot in cracking those types of roles. Because it was me, casting directors often assumed that I cannot play de-glam roles and I faced that for a long time until I did a show called 'Hush Hush' and my director saw me in a completely different light. I was cast in a role of a Haryanvi cop who was very simple looking and wore minimal makeup. After that, I got 'Scoop' and I'm finally glad that people are now seeing that I'm an actor who can be molded into any role."

When Karishma was asked about when the industry finally opened up to the actor in her and looked beyond her looks, Karishma shared, "OTT was a game changer for me. People knew me as Karishma Tanna, but there was never a time when they could point out any of my projects because of my acting skills, because the references were always some or the other reality show I was a part of."

"I have actually been waiting when I will get the validation for delivering a good performance as an actor. I didn't get the right opportunities that I feel I deserved, which would have helped me showcase my talent as an actor, but I'd say that I always believe everything happens for a reason. And Scoop really did that for me. I'm a household name and my mother told me that I need to be thankful for that and not compare my journey to someone else's and go in a black hole," Karishma concluded.

Regarding her professional career, her most recent appearance was in Hansal Mehta's Netflix series Scoop, in which she played journalist Jagruti Pathak.
