MUMBAI: Amitabh Bachchan's relationship with Kaun Banega Crorepati is inseparable, much like his marriage to Jaya Bachchan. The megastar and Jaya Bachchan have been married for more than 40 years. In the August 19 show, he shared with contestant Kajol Ved some of the facts about their romance, including who proposed first and what he used to call his wife before they were married.
Jaya Bachchan previously Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri have been married for over 40 years. The megastar was questioned by contestant Kajol Ved, a business expert who has been married for six months, "Jaya ma'am ko shadi se pehle se jante hai, aap kya bulate thei, aur shadi ke baad? (What did you call Jaya ma'am before and after marriage?)" Big B replied, "Joh unka naam tha wahi bulate thei. (I called her by what her name was.)"
Kajol then asked if the actor used to call her Jaya ji even before marriage. The Piku actor said that the term ji was added later, as he believes in giving respect to his wife. Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya's marriage is a symbolic representation of marital peace. Kajol further asked the veteran actor who approached first. Big B revealed, "Nai aise hi milte jhulte hum log ka ek jhund tha jaha humlog ek saath milte julte thei, ghoomte phirte thei. Ek hamari film thi joh hum logo ne saath mei ki. Uska naam tha Zanjeer."
The beginning of the Silsila couple's romance was Big B's mention of an intriguing detail from the Kaun Banega Crorepati sets. He claimed that he used to talk like such with his group, which included Jaya, and that they had promised to do something spectacular if Zanjeer got popular. If the movie did well, the whole gang decided they would go overseas, specifically to London.
Then, by the grace of God, the renowned actor stated, the movie fared well, and it was determined that they would travel. He continued by saying that because the movie had done well, they had told their parents back home that they wanted to take a vacation and that they intended to visit London.
The late Harivansh Rai Bachchan, the father of Amitabh Bachchan, stated that he had to get married before taking Jaya overseas if she was to travel to London with him. Following their quick marriage in front of their parents, the pair has enjoyed a happy and fruitful byah (marriage) ever since.
