Seasoned actress Kiran Bhargava is yet again in the news for her prolific dancing skills. The lady who is a disciple of Pt. Birju Maharaj took to the stage, this time in an event celebrating the 100th birth anniversary of filmmaker K A Abbas. The event was well-attended by eminent actors Parikshit Sahani, Rajendra Gupta, Pawan Malhotra, Seema Bhargava and others. Many writers and noted personalities from the film industry were also present to pay their tribute to the great filmmaker.
The major highlight of the star-studded event was a dance tribute by Shri K A Abbas’ granddaughter Neelima Azim and Kiran Bhargava. The beautiful ladies performed on two songs from two of his films.
A witness from the event said, “Both Neelima and Kiran being disciples of Pt. Birju Maharaj were at their elegant best. Both being established actors from the industry have been friends and professional Kathak dancers from the early 1970s. However, this was their first kathak performance together after decades. And they paid tribute to the legendary filmmaker by dancing on the numbers Chaar Din Chaar Rahein and Aye Raat Zara Aahista Guzar.”
Kiran Bhargava, who was last seen in Colors’ Rangrasiya, said, “I started dancing after a gap of so many years. I am grateful to CHAUPAL for giving me the opportunity to pay a tribute through my form of art to such a big personality like K A Abbas. It was also a wonderful experience to dance with Neelima who is also a very dear friend. We go back a long way. Both of us spent such beautiful years learning together from Pt. Birju Maharaj. I am looking forward to more Kathak performances along with my TV and film assignments.”
Good work, ladies!!
