Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay actor Abhinandan Jindal shares his story behind visiting Darga for many years

Abhinandan Jindal

MUMBAI: Actor Abhinandan Jindal is currently seen in the romantic comedy film Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay in an important role. The young actor from Punjab has got very positive feedback on his performance in the film. His scenes are packed with comedy and he has done it really well.

But there is a side of Abhinandan which not many of us are aware of. He is very spiritual by nature and has been going to Dargas since the time when he was in his 12th standard. He says, "In my 12th grade, my friend Rahul Ali, who was Muslim, took me to a Dargah for the first time. He lived near our house in Assam and one day he took me to a small shrine at the back of his house. There was this other friend of mine – Imraan - who used to visit the shrine every Friday. During a subsequent visit, Imraan took me along, and though I didn't feel any specific emotions, I found myself going back there the next week. I can't explain why but I just felt good being there. He used to mention that when he comes on Fridays and asks for something, his wishes are fulfilled. He shared that if you visit the place for seven consecutive Thursdays or Fridays, all your heartfelt desires come true. At that time, I also had something within me – an unspoken wish. He suggested I join him, and it became a routine for me. After a while, what initially started as fulfilling a personal goal transformed into something I genuinely enjoyed. Initially, I didn't know why it felt good, but over time, I found a sense of fulfilment and joy when I visited that place.”

Sharing more on this, Abhinandan says, "Initially when I visited the shrine, it was with a specific wish in my mind, and that wish did come true. However, in my current phase, I don't ask for anything. It's not that I can't think of anything to ask for; it's just that whenever I go there, I find it hard to ask for anything. No matter how many problems I'm facing or whatever hardships I'm going through, I stick to my routine of going to Mahim Dargah every Thursday. It's like a sanctuary for me. My friends know not to disturb me on Thursdays. I go there with a sense of peace, tranquility, love, and devotion, without any specific intention. After bowing down to the almighty, I feel a deep sense of contentment.”

Before his Hindi film debut Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay Abhinandan went to Dargah. Sharing more on that he adds, "The Thursday ritual is something I can't break. Even if there's a movie premiere or some significant event, I don't skip my routine. I have the confidence that if there's a delay or hindrance in my plans, it's for my own good. There's no stress; it's just my love and connection with Him. It's not about desires or wants, but rather a genuine relationship. So, it's nothing special; it's just another aspect of my life.”
