Sony Entertainment’s Kuch Toh Log Kahenge is a love story between an old man and a younger girl. And Producer Rajan Shahi is quite happy with the show.
“We have really worked hard on the script and there is no unnecessary drama,” says a happy Rajan. And he is quite happy with the lead actors also: “The characterization is just so perfect. Mohnish Behl fits the character of Dr Ashutosh to the T." And he also tells Tellychakkar.com that just recently, Kritika Kamra who plays Nidhi Verma made his day. "She said that working in Kuch Toh... has helped her unlearn whatever she had picked since her Kitani Mohabbat Hai days and she feels that she is a much better actress now, all thanks to my show,” he adds.
Not only this, Rajan is very happy with the critical acclaim his offering has been receiving. “The kind of support I am getting from the industry is very humbling. My TV guru Ravi Rai feels that this show heralds the return mature shows he makes (Sailaab, Thoda Hai Thode Ki Zaroorat Hai, etc),” beams Rajan.
The accolades just don’t stop here. Apparently Haseena Moin, the writer of PTV show Dhoop Kinare, on which his daily is based, conveyed to her Indian contact Satish Anand in Lahore that she wants to speak to the boss of Director’s Kut. “She is super impressed by the output and feels that KTLK has surpassed even her show,” he gushes.
In fact, film producer and director Randhir Kapoor is also a big fan of this show. “He does not miss a single episode,” reveals Rajan.
However, Rajan does accept that the show is not getting the ratings it deserves at the 8 pm slot, “May be the competition (Balika Vadhu) at this time slot is quite severe,” he opines.
But what gives Rajan a safety cushion is that the channel (Sony Entertainment) is quite satisfied with the progress of the show and has told the creative’s not to worry about ratings. That's a relief. In fact, the repeat telecast is keeping Rajan happy. “If you add the ratings of the original telecast to the numbers my show brings at the repeat 11 pm slot, they are good enough, collectively. We are averaging around 1.6 TVR at the 11 pm slot which is the highest across all channels,” he adds. "The competing show airs fresh content yet it doesn't manage to grab many eyeballs," he says referring to Maryada that is aired on Star Plus, at 11 pm.
But he is keeping his fingers crossed that the original telecast will very rise up in the TRP race. "I am hopeful that the original slot numbers will rise, as there is a lot of positive buzz among the audiences in Delhi and many parts of North India,” signs off Rajan.
