Kundan Shah to direct Lapata Gunj

Noted writer-director, who’s given a hit film like Jaane bhi do yaaron and the very popular television series Nukkad, is all set to make a comeback to television as director of Ashvini Dheer’s upcoming daily Lapata Gunj on SAB. Confirming the news, an actor requesting anonymity says, “Yes, it’s true that Kundan Shah is directing Lapata Gunj. The shooting has commenced and we expect the show to go on air in a few weeks.” Meanwhile, it is learnt that the show’s makers have spent around 15 million rupees for the construction of the sets. Throwing light on this, a source says, “The producers have pumped in lot of money for the sets. They’ve constructed a whole village in Madh island. It’s cost them about 15 million rupees.” We tried calling producer Ashvini Dheer and even sent him a text message to get confirmation but he didn’t reply. Lapata Gunj is based on the inscription of the late Sharad Joshi. Actors Vineet Kumar, Shubhangi Gokhale, Rohitashv Gaur, Suchate Pawase and Preeti Amin are part of the cast. Lapata Gunj is likely to air at 10.00 pm. That would mean that the three weekly shows, Thank You Jijaji, Sonu Sweety and Yeh Chanda Kanoon will be pushed to the 10.30 pm slot.
