MUMBAI: Today marks Public Service Broadcasting Day, observed every year on November 12 to commemorate the historic occasion when the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, addressed the nation for the first time through radio.
Actress Kajal Pisal, who will soon be seen in the upcoming TV show Lakshmi Niwas, shared her thoughts on the significance of this day. In an exclusive chat with TellyChakkar, Kajal said, “Broadcasting plays a vital role as it allows communication with large audiences simultaneously. It’s crucial for spreading news, raising awareness, and providing education. As an actor, I feel truly lucky and blessed that on this day, our country was introduced to such a powerful medium. Back then, it was the radio — today, it’s social media — helping us share our views, thoughts, and talents.”

Highlighting its relevance in modern times, she added, “Broadcasting remains important for businesses through advertising and for fostering national unity by creating shared cultural experiences. It also serves as a lifeline during emergencies by delivering timely alerts and updates. While everyone now has access to these platforms, it’s essential to use them responsibly. Trolling, targeting individuals, or spreading false narratives must be avoided. On this day, we must remember how broadcasting has connected us and use it wisely to continue doing so.”
Kajal Pisal is known for her performances in popular shows such as Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, and Jhanak.
