He's back. Ananth Mahadevan, known to viewers for his capers on Doordarshan in the early 1980s and later as the director of Sony's Devi, is back. This time to direct one of the few shows that have been given a fixed slot on UTV's proposed kiddie channel Hungama. Mahadevan will wield the megaphone for Kabhi Hero Kabhi Zero, which will be shown three times a week in half hourly episodes. Although Hungama (poised for a mid August launch) has reportedly shortlisted at least 60 original shows for telecast, it has not let out the details of any yet. We managed to get a sneak peek of KHKZ on its sets! The Kabhi Hero…. plot moves along the lines of Mr India, with Rahul Bajaj, who plays a Haryanvi, acquiring super powers after sniffing a strange chemical in a laboratory. With the ability to run at terrific speeds, jump from buildings and the like, the protagonist employs his superhuman powers to advantage till he discovers that he is rendered powerless when he encounters the colour red. Shades of Mr India again?? Hilarious situations abound - Mr Super Power is about to swoop down on some notorious elements and the traffic signal goes red. He jumps from a height thinking it's cool, but suddenly a BEST bus comes in the way. He invites a girl for a date but she comes wearing red. All this, while his counterpart Rakesh Paul makes hay. Rahul Bajaj, Rakesh Paul and Ashish Roy play the main male characters, newcomer Rishina Avasthi plays the femme fatale. Mahadevan is expected to go back for some time to his unfinished film Dil Maange More starring Shahid Kapoor, Soha Ali Khan, Tulip Joshi and Ayesha Takia. Dharam (who directed Shubh Mangal Savdhan ) is expected to get into his shoes. For more on Hungama, stay tuned.
