MUMBAI: In an exclusive chat with TellyChakkar, Mangal Lakshmi fame Urvashi Upadhyay who plays the character of Kusum in the show credited the show's current track wherein Mangal steps out of the house rejecting Kapil and Adit to find a new identity for herself for allowing her to have an extended Diwali celebration in her hometown.

She also spoke about her childhood memories of celebrating Diwali and much more. She exclusively told TellyChakkar, "She said, "Diwali was always extremely special back in childhood. We are Gujratis and Diwali is celebrated in full swing. The festival marks the new year for us and it was always quite exciting to prepare for the same. My parents used to make sure that I got everything new. Dressing up on Diwali, doing puja, and visiting relatives were some of the most fun parts of my childhood."

As we grow up, things change and almost every year, because of shootings, I don't get to celebrate the festival in the proper traditional way. We get holidays only on the day of Diwali, so it gets quite busy and a hush-hush kind of celebration. However, this year, because of the current track in Mangal Lakshmi, I was able to extend my holidays and thus I am off to my hometown to have an elaborate celebration of the festival amongst the family and friends."

"As we speak, I am on my way to reach my hometown with my family. I have enjoyed Diwali in a city like Mumbai for years. Celebrating the festival in a city like Mumbai, staying in a high rise building and getting mesmerized by the lit up sky and roads had its own charm, but this year, I will be celebrating it in a desi way in my hometown. I am looking forward to making big rangolis, doing puja with extended families and meeting everyone."

"The moment my mother-in-law invited me over for Diwali celebration, she said, 'Jalebi tumhara intezaar kar rahi hai (Jalebi are waiting for you)', I could instantly connect with my childhood wherein my father would make sure to feed jalebis as I am very fond of it. He used to make very tasty jalebis. When he couldn't make it, he used to get some for me almost daily. It makes me emotional how these things stay with you forever."

Here's wishing all the ardent readers of TellyChakkar a very Happy Diwali!
