MUMBAI: Sreesanth turned a year older yesterday (6 February). He is a former Indian cricketer who grabbed headlines for several reasons. In fact, more than his game, his controversies made him famous. 

As the Bigg Boss contestant turned a year older, we bring to you some of the controversies that made him popular in a wrong way.   

1. In 2013, the Delhi police arrested Sreesanth and two of his Rajasthan Royals teammates, from Mumbai, on charges of spot-fixing during IPL 6. Owing to this, he got banned by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from playing for the rest of his life. 

2. In 2008, during the Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter, he got slapped by Harbhajan Singh. The incident left Sreesanth in tears and Harbhajan fined and banned from the tournament.

3. Sreesanth was accused of cheating his current wife Bhuvneshwari Kumari, who is a pillar of strength for him. His ex-girlfriend Nikesha Patel said to a leading daily that when he was dating Bhuvneshwari, he was also in a relationship with her. 

4. The former cricketer was even linked to actress Shriya Saran. However, the actress cleared the air by saying that they were brand ambassadors for an upmarket product, and she did not know him.   

5. He also grabbed headlines by going into a confrontation with Andrew Symonds after clapping on his face upon his dismissal. It happened in 2007. 

6 Sreesanth again made news when he participated in the controversial reality show Bigg Boss last year.

His aggressive behaviour and rude attitude was not liked by many of the participants. However, he developed a strong bond with some like actress Dipika Kakar, whom he calls his sister, and he eventually became the runner up.
