Actress Prateeksha Lonkar, a well known face in the Marathi theatre and film circuit, is once again back on small screen with her latest venture Thapki (SOL & Shoonya Square) on Colors, after her last daily Byah Humari Bahu Ka (Sony TV).
The talented actress, who was missing from small screen for quite some time now, said, “As an actress I want to do something new every time I appear on screen. I don’t want to be an actress, who might be a regular face but lacks variety in her work. Not taking up a show after Byah Humari Bahu Ka was a conscious decision on my part and now when I heard the concept of Thapki I felt like doing the series.”
“My character in this show is very much relatable for my audience, I believe. On one hand she empathizes with her daughter, on the other she is insecure about her daughter’s future as any other mother would be. I feel the show will help many to gain confidence, as it is not only about speech difficulties but the need to strengthen ourselves and overcome weaknesses,” Prateeksha went on to add.
The known theatre personality also mentioned that she believes that her years in theatre have made her one strong actress. “Theatre always develops an actor methodically. You have to observe everything minutely, which in turn develops your thought process making you a better performer.”
We also quizzed Prateeksha about her experience in films. And the actress, who has been a regular in Nagesh Kukunoor’s movies, was all praises about the noted filmmaker. “Nagesh, I believe is the first one among his contemporaries to present such off beat yet realistic films. The best part about his work is that he makes an intensive study before doing any film. But, nowadays there are many directors, who have developed their own style and genre and they all are thankfully working in the mainstream cinemas.”
As the actress now concentrates more on regional films and her show, we wish her all the luck.
