MUMBAI : Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chasmah has been entertaining its audience for over 15 years now, with its first episode airing on 28th July, 2008. Every episode brings a laughter riot with various characters entering for an arc while the main characters – the society members, become the most relatable part for the viewers.
The show has gone through many phases and yet stood up against every challenge, coming back swinging. There are times when actors got replaced but the characters continued and the audience accepted everything with open arms.
Be it any age bracket, the show never fails to entertain the audience and while there are latest episodes coming out daily, viewers love to re-watch even the old episodes as the essence is still maintained.
When talking about actors, we know how Palak Sindhwani has been gaining a lot of popularity for her character as Sonu Bhide in the show. However, she has been making headlines for a different reason recently.
The actress has accused the makers of the show of mental harassment and exploitation. According to Palak, she expressed her wish to discontinue with the show due to health reasons but the production team started to make false claims against her. These claims included a contract breach for promoting third-party brands.
Palak Sindhwani also accused them of pressuring her to work despite her deteriorating health which led to a panic attack. Palak revealed that the production team threatened to ruin her career and deactivate her social media accounts and despite working until the end of her notice period, her dues amounting to Rs 21 L were still unpaid.
The controversy escalated when the show's producers, Neela Film Productions, sent her a legal notice accusing her of violating her contract, something Palak firmly denied. She countered by stating that these issues only surfaced after she announced her decision to leave the show.
Here’s a timeline of events for the unversed:
It all started when the endorsements were done contradictory to the contract. Even the third-party highlighted the issue to the producers.
In June, Palak was told to stop with endorsements, as per exclusive contract.
On 2nd August, there was a meeting held with all the artists in a reputed hotel. In the meeting, the endorsements were discussed and highlighted.
Finally, on 19th September, a legal notice was sent to her. While we reported earlier exclusively about the production house deciding to secure a penalty from Palak Sindhwani for breaching 4-month notice as per contract, as per the latest updates, TMKOC's Neela Film Productions is to file a legal defamation suit against Palak Sindhwani for mental harassment claims and other allegations.
Palak Sindhwani has a massive fan following on social media and everyone has been waiting for her response.
