Post the success of Ye Unn Dinon Ki Baat Hai and Barrister Babu, producers Shashi and Sumeet Mittal talk about how Kyun Utthe Dil Chod Aaye was born

MUMBAI: Shashi Sumeet Productions is known for bringing path-breaking shows. The most successful offerings of the production house are Punar Vivah, Diya Aur Baati Hum, and Ye Dinon Ki Baat Hai.

After the success of period dramas like Ye Unn Dinon Ki Baat Hai and Barrister Babu, the makers are set to roll out a show set in the pre-partition era (1947) titled Kyun Utthe Dil Chod Aaye.

Today, at the press conference, TellyChakkar asked producers Shashi and Sumeet what make them bring shows based in that era. They shared, “History attracts me a lot, and partition is one of the subjects that should be explored. Very few shows or films that have been made on partition. Hence, I decided to pen down the story during lockdown, and it has been made beautifully so far. Moreover, thank you to Sony TV for encouraging us to bring something different to the table. We still get jitters when we hear love stories from back in the era. The youth will witness different sides of love. They should see how love existed without Facebook and Instagram."

The show features Gracy Bitin Goswami as Amrit, Aanchal as Vashma, and Pranali as Radha. Actor Zaan Khan has been cast in a key role of Randheer, while Shagun Pandey will be seen as Uday. Yash Tonk will be seen as Lala Brij Kishore. The diverse and talented cast also includes Kanika Maheshwari, Avtar Gill, Geeta Tyagi, Vaishnavi, and Nasiruddin in key roles.

The show traces the journey of three young women – Amrit, Vashma, and Radha. It is based in Lahore, a city that was culturally rich and progressive, where writers and poets thrived with passion, and where people enjoyed a dynamic milieu. These three young women, on the threshold of adulthood, were hoping to realise their dreams, hope, aspirations, and love. But with the changing fate of the country, how did life change for them? What did the new Independent India hold in store for them?

Stay tuned to know more.
