Rahul Vaidya has recently made headlines in newspapers for his ardent fan following. Remember the news where he got a gold ring from one of his fans? But the singer is in high demand not just from his fans but also from the industry.
Rahul, who wants to become an actor, had recently refused to do television shows. "I don't want to do television because it has a limited scope," he says. "I can't see myself shedding tears in those soaps. Besides, I can't play father to someone of my age. I want to be true to myself and do what I feel."
Rahul has plans to become an actor in films. "I want to try my hand at Bollywood and I would love if Mahesh Bhatt launches me," he grins. Rahul was offered Star One's Dil Mill Gaye. "There are many other shows that were offered to me but I had to turn them down politely," he says.
Rahul feels grateful for being a host on Jhoom India. "This has given me the opportunity to meet Mahesh Bhatt. On my part, I'm preparing myself for Bollywood by toning my body. I'm definitely looking for a lead role. I won't settle for anything less," he says.
This year Rahul will launch two solo albums. "One of them is tentatively called Mere Maula. It has all kinds of music from Sufi to club dance numbers to romantic songs. My target audience is everyone," he adds.
And what's brewing on the personal front? "I don't know why there is so much of halla about my personal life. People were speculating about me and Prajakta but there is nothing of that sort. Yes, it was true that during the making of Indian Idol I was seeing somebody but she was not from this field," he says mysteriously. "I'm enjoying my bachelorhood and with my singing and acting career ahead I don't want any distractions. I want to be free to enjoy this for a long time," he concludes.
Looks like it'll be some time before he says, "God promise, dil dola" to some lucky babe!
