MUMBAI: Celebrity MasterChef fame Rajiv Adatia has come out in support of actress Rhea Chakraborty after she received a clean chit in the Sushant Singh Rajput case. The actor’s death in June 2020 was concluded as suicide, and the case has now been officially closed.
Rajiv took to his Instagram stories to express his disappointment with the way the media treated Rhea during the investigation. He specifically called out Republic TV for its aggressive coverage and accused them of running a media trial without solid evidence.
“The media need to apologise to Rhea for how they harassed her and her family in the time Sushant passed! We were all heartbroken to hear the news. However, the way Republic TV went after her without solid evidence was a manhunt! You nearly ruined someone’s life and name for TRPs!” he wrote.
Rhea Chakraborty was subjected to intense scrutiny after Sushant’s death, with multiple allegations against her, including drug-related charges. She was arrested and later released on bail. Over the years, investigations by the CBI, NCB, and ED found no evidence to support claims that she was responsible for his death.
Rajiv’s statement comes after many Bollywood celebrities have spoken up about the unfair treatment Rhea faced. With the case now officially closed, supporters like Rajiv believe it is time for the media to take responsibility for how they portrayed her.
Fans of Rajiv Adatia appreciated his courage in speaking up, with many agreeing that media trials can have serious consequences on a person’s life. Meanwhile, Rhea has maintained a low profile and is slowly returning to work in the entertainment industry.
