Raksha Bandhan festivities galore on Indian television

Our television shows are very much connected to the Indian culture and tradition as the bahus on these shows not only wear sarees, but they also celebrate all the Indian festivals. And since its Raksha Bandhan today, most of our daily soaps will be telecasting an episode centering on rakhi tonight. Tellychakkar.com gets you the list of such shows. Starting from Star Plus – that has managed to stay at number one on the TRP charts for quite some time – it will have its shows Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behana Hai, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Do and Ek Doosre Se Karte Hai Pyaar Hum celebrate rakhi in tonight’s episodes. Their top rated show, Diya Aur Baati Hum has already aired a rakhi sequence in an earlier episode. Talking about the festive celebration on Ek Doosre Se… producer JD Majethia said, “Since Raksha Bandhan is a wonderful relationship of a brother and a sister, it’s important to portray it that way on-screen. Since our show is about sibling rivalry, the Raksha Bandhan festival connects and becomes a part of the storyline.” He added, “A common man cannot celebrate a festival to the extent one can on-screen. Hence the audience likes watching the celebration on their TV sets. Apart from this, at times the telecasts of these celebrations get delayed, which in a way, turns out to be a prolonged celebration for the audience.” Moving on, Sony Entertainment Television’s Parvarrish and Indian Idol 6 will have a rakhi celebration too. We hear that Ritika Raj, who is one of the contestants of this reality show, will be seen tying rakhi to her blood brother on the show. This episode will go on-air in the coming week. Colors, on the other hand, will show rakhi celebration in Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha and Kairi. The audience will get to see Nanhi tie rakhi to Addu and Megha tying Rakhi to Guru in Na Bole Tum… On the other hand, Vibha and Babli will be seen tying rakhi to their cousin brothers Ved, Prakash and Anuj. These episodes will go on-air in a day or two. “Since Na Bole Tum … is a family drama, occasions like Raksha Bandhan, Janmashtami and Deepavali will always be a part of it. These celebrations are important on these shows as they help the audience connect with it as if something that’s happening in their real lives, is taking place on reel too. And if this is weaved around the storyline, it is even more fantastic,” said producer Sudhir Sharma. Zee TV will celebrate the festival with Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke in which Gunjan will try tying a rakhi on Dholu’s wrist, while Rachana ties the same on Mayank’s. Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltha Chashma and Lapataganj too will be seen celebrating rakhi on SAB TV. Said Anooj Kapoor channel Head of SAB TV, “Such things connect with the audience as they increase the relativity quotient.” Lastly, there will be rakhi celebration on the sets of Sahara One’s Jhilmil Sitaron Ka Aangan Hoga and Piya Ka Ghar Pyaara Lage. Where in Jhilmil, Menika will end up tying a rakhi on Pratap’s wrist, whom she had been trying to molest all this while, Jhanku will be seen tying rakhi on Bittu’s wrist in Piya Ka Ghar.
