It’s that time of the year when everything around you will get all the more bright and pure. Yes folks, it’s Ramzan, the time to fast and pray. In spite of having such busy schedules, our on-screen stars do make it a point to bask in the spirit of the holy month.
Says the very good looking actor Iqbal Khan, “The month is very important to us because this is the time when the doors of heaven open and all our prayers are accepted by the Supreme Power. Keeping a fast is compulsory for any Muslim and I, being a stern follower of the religion, make it a point to fast all 30 days and offer namaaz five times a day. I also don’t take any work during this month since there is not much liberty when you are shooting.”
Adaa Khan, who lost her mother earlier this year, says though this Ramzan will be very different in her absence, she will make sure that she prays religiously in this month when all wishes are granted by the Almighty. “Since this is the last year with my Amrit Manthan team, I would pray that all of us get good work soon after our show is wrapped up.”
With the prayers and fast, there is also the special iftaar and the get together that one has with friends and family. The ravishing Sana Khan, to whom the month of Ramzan is her favourite, says, “I look forward to this month throughout the year; the atmosphere is so spiritual and pure. Also with family and friends coming together for iftaar, the beauty of the month just doubles up.”
Aamir Ali, who cannot manage to observe the fast all 30 days, says that he has indirect methods of receiving duas by treating all the people on his unit with delicious food during iftaar. “Even Sanjeeda eats the most during iftaar even though she doesn’t fast on all the days.”
Our actors also enjoy the yummy food available at Mohd. Ali Road and Haji Ali where they gorge on special delicacies like sevaiyan, haleems, kababs, special sweets and even the fried stuffs that one wouldn’t dare to touch during the usual days.
Reminiscing his childhood days, Anas Rashid, the perfect beta and pati on screen, says, “Ramzan used to be really special during the days when we were growing up in Punjab. Being the eldest among all my cousins, I used to rush to the terrace to hear the azaan when it was first recited and then declare to everyone in the house to break their fast. I really miss those days now when I am staying away from home.”
Also recalling about his childhood days is the handsome Eijaz Khan, who is currently shooting for Diya Aur Baati Hum, “The first roza of every child was so special in those days and I vividly remember mine too. I remember as a child, we would all stay awake after Sehri and rush to play badminton to finally collapse after our strength gave in. Also, our eyes would be glued to the one special dish every day at iftaar; it was actually feasting rather fasting back then,” the actor observes laughingly.
At this point, Anas adds that with time, the essence of Ramzan is waning away. “Today, people are so hooked up to internet and cell phones that they do not have time to understand the true value of this month. Since I come from a small city, I feel the lack of the true spirit of Ramzan here living all alone.”
Concludes Iqbal, “It’s all about connecting to Allah and asking forgiveness in this pious month. I just pray for happiness and good health of my family and people around me.”
With so much of goodness around, we wish all our stars and readers Ramzan Mubarak.
