Reality shows are viewed not just for the action on screen but for all the masala that is engineered and sometimes real off screen. Is it any wonder that such shows manage to gather some amount of TRPs?
An interesting drama is being enacted on the reality show Dhoom Mache De on NDTV Imagine. The centrifugal point being Baba Sehgal. The performer is a contestant alongside Richa, Jaspinder, Babul, Devang, Jassi. The singer who was last seen in Big Boss on Sony is no stranger to reality shows. So he knows how the cookie crumbles. This time a weird controversy has raised its head between Baba and other participants on the show.
A participant on anonymity says talks about it, “Baba is not a great singer but his popularity saves him every time. This show is not just about singing but also popularity among the masses. Baba doesn’t perform as we do. We go out of the way to involve audiences but all votes go to Baba.”
Reportedly though Baba has been unable to match standards with the other contestants on the show he has never been in the danger zone. And this is what has irked some of them.
We called contestant Devang Patel to know what he has to say about this controversy. He says, “I don’t know about any other performer and don’t want to comment on that. I’m here to perform and do my job well. I believe in one thing that jo dikta hai woh bikta hai…”
The man in the eye of the storm Baba says, “I’m surprised to know that my co-contestants think about me like that. Nobody has said or behaved like they don’t want me. I really don’t care about it as I’m doing my job properly and thus receiving the support from the audience,” he avers.
Elaborating on it further he explains, “If they are irritated let them be irritated. I can’t help it but I feel its something that is good for me. It’s a fair competition and during this period I have experimented with my singing. This show is looking at overall performances and I’m able to present this package well.”
Well all we can say is that we don’t know if this controversy is for real, but what is for real is that this will surely help the show.
