MUMBAI: Veteran Pakistani comedian Umer Sharif passed away today (October 2), in Germany. The 66-year-old actor-comedian had not been keeping well since his bypass surgery last year. His health kept deteriorating and he was battling with a few other major health problems since the past one year.
After learning about the saddening news, ace Indian comedian Kapil Sharma took to his Twitter handle and paid tribute to the Pakistani comedian. He shared a picture of the late actor as he offered his condolences and wrote, “Alvida legend may your soul Rest In Peace #UmerShareef”

According to reports, Umer was taken to the US for intensive cardiac surgery in an air ambulance.
Pakistan’s ambassador to Germany, Dr Mohammad Faisal had shared the unfortunate news of Umer Sharif’s demise on Twitter,
“With deep sorrow it is announced that Mr. Umer Sharif has passed away. In #Germany. Our deepest condolences to his family and friends. Our CG is present at the hospital to assist the family in every way.”
Umar started his career as a stand up comedian at an early age of 14 years. His humour and knack for making people laugh, made him everyone’s favourite and so he ruled hearts with his comedy from 1980s to the early 2000s. He came to be known as the ‘King of Comedy’.
Earlier, his wife Zareen had also given an update about his health. She shared that he had to be taken to the US for further treatment.
