He created ripples sometime back with the popular soaps Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyann and Maayka and now Romit Raj is yet again in the news. When almost all small screen actors are grabbing whatever film they can lay their hands on Romit has turned down an offer for a commercial Bollywood film.
“I was offered a film but I refused to take up the offer,” confirmed Romit. He further explained, “They wanted me to give up television and I simply cannot do that. I love television and am proud to be a TV actor. I don’t look down upon the television industry like many other people do.”
As this raised several controversies, Romit also added that his decision did not involve anybody else. “Declining this offer was completely my choice and not a forceful move by any of my directors or production houses,” exclaimed Raj.
However, the actor certainly would want to venture into meaningful cinema in future striking a perfect balance between films and television. As far as his future projects on television are concerned, Romit would be seen in a TV show Thoda Hai Bas Thode Ki Zaroorat Hai on Colors and supposedly anchoring the next season of Perfect Bride on Star Plus.
Talking about his personal life, the chocolate boy recently tied the knot with the love of his life- Tina. He has resumed work just recently, after a romantic honeymoon with his newly wedded wife at Goa. “My married life is amazing,” blushes Romit. He further adds, “Tina is an angel. We had originally planned to get married this winter but, I couldn’t stay away from her for that long. She stayed at Pune and I was in Mumbai. So, I couldn’t take the long distance relationship anymore.” Speaking about spending time with his wife he says, “I plan to watch a lot of films with her in my free time.”
Romit started his career with TV show, Shakalaka Boom Boom and returned to television after his short stint in Bollywood with Humdum and Yatra.
