Talented actress Rupa Divetia who has been part of Hindi television and Gujarati theatre for many years now is excited about the recent role that she played in Disney Bindass’ Yeh Hai Aashiqui. The episodic love story which will speak about the positives of widow-remarriage has Additi Gupta and Abhishek Rawat in lead roles. Rupa will play ‘maasi’ to Additi’s character who is a widow herself. She is a woman who adheres to the rules and norms set by the society, and has herself gone through all of them after losing her husband. As per the stringent norms of the society laid for widows, the lady has cut her hair and lives a life devoid of all worldly pleasures. The maasi who lives in a Vriddh Aashram will support Ganga (played by Additi Gupta) after the girl loses her husband. However, the lady will be of the opinion that Ganga too should lose all colours in her life, cut her hair and follow all norms. And when Ganga falls in love once again, it is her maasi who will come in as the first obstacle. However, the lady will go through a reformation seeing love blossoming in her niece’s life and will go on to support widow re-marriage as the story moves on. Talking about her character in Yeh Hai Aashiqui, Rupa said, “Yes, this was a very challenging role to play. The story is all about the view of today on widow re-marriage, and the strict rules and customs that people follow. It is also a clash of ideologies between the older generation and new generation. I simply enjoyed being part of the story on Yeh Hai Aashiqui. You can say that this is the story of colors re-appearing in a widow’s life.” This particular love story on Yeh Hai Aashiqui, produced by Lost Boy Productions and BBC Worldwide Productions also features actor Vinny Khurana who has earlier been part of episodics in MTV Webbed and Gumrah.
