MUMBAI: Actress Sheetal Maulik, currently seen as antagonist Ambika in Kabhi Neem Neem Kabhi Shahad Shahad, spoke about her experience of shooting the Hartalika Teej celebration for her show.
Hartalika Teej celebration happening today, is a revered Hindu festival celebrated by women across North India, including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand. It marks the divine union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, with women observing a fast and offering prayers for the well-being and longevity of their husbands and families.
She said, "I have heard about the festival but never knew about it in details until we got a Teej sequence in our story. The festival holds great significance in our tradition. On this day, married women observe a strict fast and perform puja rituals to worship Mata Parvati, seeking blessings for their husband's well-being. Unmarried women also keep the fast, praying to Goddess Gauri for a suitable life partner. The festival is celebrated with devotion and grandeur."
Talking head about shooting the festival she shared, "Recently we celebrated the Teej in our show, shooting it was so much fun. It’s always fun to celebrate festivals on set because most of the time we don’t get to celebrate it in real life."
The 'Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin' actress continued, "Me being a Maharashtrian and married to a Bengali family. We don’t celebrate teej in our culture, but I could celebrate it on set and could have a feel of it, I think these are the perks of being a Actor, though there was Drama and ruckus throughout the festival in the show. Still, there was a part where we could know why this festival is celebrated overall, I enjoyed the process of getting dressed differently than usual and celebrate it."
She concluded adding, "Though I'm very curious to add on knowledge on such beautiful topics. I explored a lot about it from the internet. And I pray the divine father Shiva and mother Shakti, to keep their blessings on me and my husband. I wish for peace, happiness and prosperity. Wishing everyone a blessed Teej filled with joy, devotion, and love."
