MUMBAI: Shiv Thakare, one of Indian television’s most popular reality stars, faced a frightening incident at his Goregaon apartment in Mumbai when a short-circuit sparked a fire on Tuesday. The blaze broke out inside his living room at the Kolte Patil Verve building, causing considerable damage before the situation was eventually brought under control. Videos showing smoke, flames, and the fire brigade’s swift response quickly circulated online, alarming his fans and raising concerns about his safety.
Shortly after the incident, Shiv took to Instagram Stories to reassure everyone. He wrote, “Due to a short circuit, my living room caught fire, but now everything is under control. Thank you so much for your care and concern. By Bappa’s blessings, I am safe and completely fine. Nothing has happened to me. Ganapati Bappa Morya.” His message brought relief to supporters who had been worried ever since the visuals went viral.

According to a source who spoke to Hindustan Times, Shiv was inside his bedroom when the fire erupted in the drawing room of his 12th-floor flat. The person stated, “There was a short-circuit at his place… It is the building authorities’ fault completely.” The source further alleged that residents had been raising concerns about electrical problems for a long time. They claimed, “The building Shiv has been staying in has been facing electrical issues for quite some time now. Nothing was functioning properly, from the water sprinkler to the fire alarm. The only good thing is that Shiv wasn’t in the area that caught fire.”
Shiv’s team also released a formal statement addressing the situation. They wrote, “Shiv faced a mishap this morning as there was a fire breakout at his Mumbai residence in the Kolte Patil Verve building. The actor has not incurred any injury, but the house faced the brunt.” The update confirmed that although the property suffered damage, Shiv himself remained unharmed, though understandably shaken by the sudden event.
Just a day before the accident, Shiv had returned to Mumbai and even posted a cheerful airport selfie captioned, “Back to Mumbai.” The timing made the incident all the more shocking for his well-wishers.
Shiv Thakare, who hails from a small town in Maharashtra, has carved a respected space for himself in Indian entertainment. From Roadies to winning Bigg Boss Marathi, participating in Bigg Boss Hindi, Khatron Ke Khiladi, and Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, he has built a strong fanbase with his grounded personality and relentless drive. Speaking about his personal life in a recent interview, Shiv shared, “I really like to keep some things private. You can decide whatever you want, but I am happy… Even if I form a bond with someone and genuinely like them, I would still prefer to keep it private.”
Most recently, he appeared in the music video Rajj Rajj Nachan alongside Rashami Desai, set in a festive pre-wedding atmosphere, adding yet another project to his growing list of screen appearances.
Despite the fire incident, Shiv’s message has reassured fans that he is unharmed, a reminder of both the unpredictability of life and the resilience that has defined his journey so far.
