Shocking: TV actress molested in Kolkata

TV actress molested in Kolkata
In a shocking remainder of how unsafe India still is, a Bengali TV actress was molested near her residence. More shocking however was the reaction of the bystanders present on street all of whom remained mute spectators, as alleged by the actress. The incident happened on Sunday night in South Kolkata when the 34-year old victim returned home late at night after finishing her tele-serial shoot. As soon as she was about to unlock the gate of her home, a stranger reportedly grabbed her from behind and molested her before escaping with her mobile phone. An investigating officer was quoted telling a leading daily, "The actress was going to unlock the collapsible gate when a man grabbed her from behind. He molested her and at one point she felt he was trying to physically assault her. The woman claimed that even though she raised an alarm, none of the bystanders watching the crime came forward to help. She managed to break free and tried to call the police emergency number. However, the attacker snatched her mobile phone and fled." The actress had also expressed her displeasure at the cops initially for their alleged refusal to register a case for attempt to rape. For the moment, the police have registered a case of molestation, attempt to rape and theft. More than the pervert's rape attempt, it is the shocking response from the public that's despicable. In a recent social experiment conducted by Tellychakkar.com with TV actress Yashashri Masurkar at Juhu beach, we encountered a similar lack of apathy and response from general public where not a single one came forward to help the actress despite being mock molested in broad daylight. Let's hope things change for good in New Year. Watch here:
