MUMBAI: &TV’s popular show Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai has been in the news lately due to strong speculation about the replacement of Angoori Bhabi. Now, the rumours can finally be put to rest as an official confirmation has arrived. In a recent interview, Shubhangi Atre, who played the beloved Angoori Bhabi, revealed that she will be exiting the show. Interestingly, Atre had earlier replaced Shilpa Shinde in the same role, and now, after her exit, Shinde is set to return and reprise the character once again. This shuffle is quite rare in the industry.

Confirming her departure, Shubhangi Atre told Bombay Times, “I always promised Mrs Kohli that my journey in the show would start with aan, baan aur shaan, and that is exactly how it would end too. I could not have asked for a better exit. There is no point delving into the reasons for the replacement.”

This also marks the second time Shubhangi has stepped into a character originally played by Shilpa Shinde. Fans may remember a similar occurrence in Chidiya Ghar, where Shubhangi played Koyal Narayan before Shilpa eventually returned to the role.

Reflecting on the constant comparisons and the so-called replacement pattern, Shubhangi added, “I just want to say that I am ending this replacement game now. I told my mom that Shilpa left the show in nine to ten months, so it felt like she handed me a newborn baby. I raised that baby for ten years, and now I am returning it to her. I gave it values and sanskars, and I am passing it back with a full heart. I wish Shilpa all the very best and also the entire team for the 2.0 version of the show. She is a fantastic actor, and I am genuinely fond of her.”

The beloved character’s return and Shubhangi’s graceful exit mark a new chapter for the show as it heads into its refreshed phase.
