Shweta Gautam ‘excited’ to play mother to the male lead for a change in Star Plus’ Meri Bhabhi

Talented actor Shweta Gautam plays the finicky, yet sophisticated mother of Kittu (Esha Kansara) to the ‘T’ in Star Plus’ Meri Bhabhi. Kamini, the character she plays has this uncanny way of ‘speaking the truth in the worst way possible’. Says Shweta, “Kamini always speaks the right, but she is so sarcastic that she says it in a bad light. I am enjoying this role to the core, especially because this is my first project with DJ’s A Creative Unit. I have always looked forward to working with them as I have believed in their concepts. Meri Bhabhi is providing just that platform.” Shweta loves to shoot her sequences in the show with the veteran actor Kanwaljeet Singh. “Kukuji (character of Kanwaljeet) and Kamini are hilarious and I enjoy shooting for these scenes the most. It is a privilege shooting with Kanwaljeetji; he has so much to give at this age. There is a great ‘give and take’ rapport between us, and our scenes come out very well,” explains Shweta. Shweta gets reminded of her college days when she sees Esha Kansara and Kanchi Kaul mingle and chat on sets. “They are simply adorable; the way they sit around and talk and spend time together reminds me of my younger days (smiles). Kanchi is a delight to work with, and so is Isha. I feel Isha is a doll, cute and adorable.” The actress has of late been seen essaying the positive mother to lovely girls on television, whether it be mother to Yami Gautam and Parul Gulati in Yeh Pyaar Na Hoga Kam, Jennifer Winget in Teri Meri Love Stories or Leena Jumani in Chhoti Si Zindagi. But now, Meri Bhabhi offers Shweta a difference, as she will also play mother to the new male lead to be introduced in the show, Kunal. Talking about this, the bubbly actress states, “I have always been enjoying the privilege of playing mother to lead girls. I took up this show, as I knew that in addition to playing Kittu’s mother, I will go on to essay mother to the meal lead coming in. I have waited for nearly six months for this day to come. And I am glad that my wait has paid off.” Speaking about Ravish Desai who makes his debut on television as Kunal, the actress explains, “I wish him all the best. I have been waiting eagerly to shoot with my son, as this is the first time I play a mom to a guy (smiles). Kamini will now eagerly want her son to marry and settle in life with a beautiful girl.” Shweta, we wish you have a great track ahead in Meri Bhabhi
