Sony Entertainment Television’s fiction band hasn’t clicked of late with most of their new shows (Amita Ka Amit (0.8) and Anamika (0.8) failing to rock the TRP charts. Now, news trickles in that Dil Ki Nazar Se - Khoobsurat might meet the fate of Hongey Judaa Na Hum that ended a couple of months ago. Apparently, the channel has issued notice to Shashi Sumeet Mittal Productions (producers of the show) to raise the numbers within a month or face the axe. And since the latest numbers 0.5 do not indicate any growth, the jury is out whether the channel will pull the plug on this project of mistaken identity. When we spoke to the cast, they dismissed all talk of shutting down the show as hogwash. Said lead actress Soumya Seth (Aaradhya), “What notice are you talking about; the real track will only begin now and we are all very confident that our numbers will rise very soon.” Averred co-star Rohit Khurana (RJ Ehsaas), “How can you take a call on a show within two months. If that was the case, they should even questioned the numbers of Saraswatichandra (Star Plus) that have dropped to (1.7). I really don’t care about TRPs, I am very happy with the fact that I am now recognized as Ehsaas instead of Vansh (Uttaran). And if this is happening, it means people are watching the show.” Observed Abhishek Malik (Rahul Periwal), “I don’t know why our TRPs aren’t coming. Even the ongoing IPL might be a factor. But at least our numbers have remained where they were; they haven’t dipped. Anamika has taken a hit in the last two weeks since the T20 cricket carnival began.” When we messaged Sony TV Business Head, Sneha Rajani, she noted in single word and said, “Rubbish.” Producer Sumeet Mittal also maintained that they have not received any notice from channel. When asked of how can a channel sustain a TV show on such low numbers, a leading TV expert replied on terms of anonymity, “Sony can, as most of their shows are revolving around that number now but anything can happen after the IPL as that show was made with conviction of Vivek Behl (content head) who is no more with the channel.”
