After the success of Balika Vadhu, every channel is wooing Sphere Origins to produce a show for them. Sphere Origins, who was adjudged as the production house of the year at the 8th Indian Telly Awards, are all set to produce a prime time daily for NDTV Imagine. Talking about the show, a source says, “The name of the show is called Jyoti. Marathi actor Sneha Wagh, who is seen in ETV Marathi show Kata Rute Kunala, plays the lead character of Jyoti. Sriti Jha, who was seen in 9X’s Jiya Jale , is also part of the show. Other actors include noted theatre personalities like Sanjay Batra, Madhu Malti and Ashok Bhatia. The show will be directed by Balika Vadhu director Siddhart Sengupta and is expected to go on air in January” Elaborating on the story line, our source adds, “There is certain amount of reality attached to Jyoti as this character is closely related to one of the entities in our show. For obvious reasons, we have the changed the name to Jyoti. Unfortunately, that girl passed away last year. Jyoti is going to be an emotional drama.” Sphere Orgins head Sunjoy Waddhwa says, “We are producing Jyoti for Imagine. However, neither the launch date nor the time slot has been decided. What I can confirm to you is that the Jyoti will be a prime time show.” We called up Sriti Jha who reused to divulge any details but admitted to being offered the show. Sneha Wagh remained unavailable for comment.
