MUMBAI: Star Jalsha's new show, Kunjo Chaya, is an attempt to rekindle the spirit of family ties and values in a dysfunctional family whose members have seemingly progressed in life but have forgotten their core values.
Produced by Tent Cinemas, Kunjo Chaya is a story of Subhash Sanyal (Dadu), an idealist teacher in a village far away from his family, who live in the city. Subhash helps in shaping lives of young villagers with his principles and moral values. Although he stays away from his family, he is proud of his kin because he believes, every member follows the values taught by him. His illusion is broken when post retirement, he comes to Kolkata only to discover that home is not what he had imagined it to be. The story progresses when Dadu, with the help of a bubbly girl Shalik, who travels with him from the village, attempts to instill the values once again in his family.
Shankar Chakraborty is portraying the part of Subhash Sanyal, Pallabi Dey is playing Shalik and Somraj Maity has stepped into the shoes of Ishaan in the show.
Speaking about Kunjo Chaya, Susanta Das, Producer, said, “It will depict the journey of our protagonists who take the onus to inculcate and instill the true meaning of family in the Sanyal household. Along with this, we will see a reflection of today’s society and the challenges faced by the elderly."
Kunjo Chaya premiered on 26th August. It will be aired Monday-Friday, 9pm.
