MUMBAI: Veteran interior designer and author Zarine Khan, wife of renowned filmmaker Sanjay Khan, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2025, at her Mumbai residence. She was 81.
As per sources close to the family, Zarine had been suffering from age-related health issues for some time. She is survived by her husband, Sanjay Khan, and their four children — Sussanne Khan, Simone Arora, Farah Ali Khan, and Zayed Khan.
Zarine Khan was much more than just the matriarch of the Khan family. A woman of grace and creativity, she carved her own identity in the world of design and lifestyle. An accomplished interior designer, she brought elegance and warmth to every space she touched. She also authored the much-loved cookbook Family Secrets: The Khan Family Cookbook, which offered readers a glimpse into her culinary expertise and family traditions.
Before stepping into the world of design and writing, Zarine also appeared in the 1963 film Tere Ghar Ke Samne, reflecting her early connection with cinema.
Remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, and talented creator, Zarine Khan’s legacy lives on through her work, her family, and the values she instilled in them.
